Our Inspiration: Seeing Possibilities Where Others See Limitations
WesTec Possibilities was born from a simple yet powerful realization: Detroit's children deserve access to the boundless opportunities in technology. Since entering the tech field in 2017, founder Monique West discovered how vast and in-demand these skills are—and how underrepresented many voices remain.
Despite their natural curiosity and innovative thinking, many Detroit children lack exposure to tech pathways through their standard public school curriculum. WesTec Possibilities exists to fill this critical gap, showing young minds they absolutely belong in technology's future.
Monique recognized that diverse perspectives are not just welcome but essential in technology—and that the inquisitive minds of Detroit's youth could be valuable assets in future innovations.
Our Mission: Making STEAM Accessible to Every Child
Inspire Curiosity
We create engaging, hands-on experiences that spark children's natural curiosity about how technology works and how they can become creators, not just consumers.
Inclusive Learning
Our programs are designed for all learners, including dedicated support for deaf and hard-of-hearing students through American Sign Language integration.
Bridge the Gap
We connect Detroit's youth with the resources, mentorship, and skills they need to envision themselves in STEAM careers that might otherwise seem out of reach.
Through robotics coaching, programming instruction, and passionate advocacy, WesTec Possibilities is transforming how Detroit's children see their future in technology.
Our Services: The Human Element in Technology Education
At WesTec Possibilities, our primary offering is simple yet powerful: passionate, knowledgeable instruction that meets students where they are. We bring technical expertise combined with boundless enthusiasm to every educational opportunity.
STEAM Programming for Schools
We provide programming language instruction to both teachers and students in Detroit Public Schools, creating sustainable technology learning environments.
Robotics Coaching
Our elementary and middle school robotics teams discover the excitement of building, programming, and competing while developing crucial teamwork skills.
ASL-Integrated Technology Education
We proudly offer STEAM education that incorporates American Sign Language, ensuring deaf and hard-of-hearing students can fully participate and excel.
Success Stories: Unlocking Hidden Potential
"We've watched middle school students who never saw themselves in tech become passionate robotics competitors. The moment a child realizes they can create with technology rather than just consume it—that's what drives our work at WesTec Possibilities."
Our students have shown particularly remarkable progress, demonstrating that with the right support and communication methods, every child can thrive in STEAM learning environments.
Through consistent encouragement and hands-on learning, we've helped students discover talents they never knew they had—and possibilities they never imagined for themselves.

Inclusive STEAM: Breaking Down Barriers
WesTec Possibilities is especially proud of our commitment to inclusive STEAM education. By incorporating American Sign Language into our programming, we ensure deaf and hard-of-hearing students can fully participate in the excitement of technology learning.
Why STEAM Matters
  • Creates equal access to technical concepts
  • Builds confidence in students
  • Teaches hearing students valuable communication skills
  • Demonstrates that tech is truly for everyone
Our Approach
We don't just translate—we design STEAM learning experiences that are visually rich and accessible from the ground up. Our robotics teams include both hearing and deaf students working together, with communication barriers removed through ASL integration.
The results speak for themselves: our deaf and hard-of-hearing middle schoolers are showing potential and thriving in competitive robotics environments.
The WesTec Promise: Accountability Through Community

WesTec Possibilities thrives on community support and accountability. By sharing our mission with you, we're making a commitment to consistent growth and impact.
At WesTec Possibilities, we believe that sharing our vision creates accountability. Life gets busy—"SQUIRREL!"—and it's easy to get distracted from even the most passionate missions. By inviting you into our community, we're ensuring that momentum continues to build.
Our future dreams are connected to present ideas, and your encouragement, attention, and participation help keep those dreams on track. Whether you're a STEAM professional we'll be calling on soon, an ASL user whose "hands and hearts" we need, or simply a supporter—you're part of our village.
